Santa Cruz de Valdelana
WINE EXPERTS
The still-oaky red 2020 Santa Cruz de Valdelana was produced with Tempranillo grapes from a Viñedo Singular plot planted in the village of Elciego in 1940. For Val del a na, this is the most floral of the reds, but today it has a good layer of sweet spices and smoke and sorne Mediterranean character of aromatic herbs and ripe berries. lt's medium to full-bodied and a bit jammy with 14.5% alcohol and mellow acidity. AII of these reds could do with a little more freshness and tension, but it's not easy; it's the first vintage and it was a warm and ripe year.

WINEMAKER’S TASTING NOTES
The Hermitage of "Santa Crvz" is located beside this vineyard, so it has a very long and mysterious relationship with it. Since this little church was a kind of shelter for the injured pilgrims, always offering them some bread and hot wine. Its origins was as a hospital for patients suffering from plague, as well as a small inn for pilgrims.
