Unique Spanish White Wines, Red Wines and Cava

Toro

Toro, in northwest Spain, boasts red wines brimming with both power and tradition, reflecting a winemaking history that pre-dates Roman settlements.

The wine production area governed by the Toro D.O. is situated to the southeast of the province of Zamora within Castilla y León. It includes part of the natural regions of Tierra del Vino (the land of Wine), the Guareña Valley and Tierra de Toro (the Land of Toro), and next to the plateaus of Tierra del Pan (the Land of Bread) and Tierra de Campos (the Farmlands).

Grapes and Winemaking

The red wines are made mainly with the Tinta de Toro variety, always in search of the required degree of maturity to obtain wines in which the balance of their components is reflected in the notable quality of the wines.

Vinaguarena WineryViñaguareña cellar is located in the heart of the D.O (guarantee of origin), known as Toro's golden mile. Viñaguareña cellar's story goes back to 1999, both with the construction of a modern building provided with the most ,modern techniques of wine-making and thanks to the initiative of a group of local and relevant businessmen lovers of excellent quality wines. The secret of the wines of this cellar is the selection of grapes coming from its 25-plus-year-old vineyards.

The wines, which are produced and processed with the ultimate techniques of wine-making, are settling in stainless steel tanks of reduced capacity, between 15,000 and 30,000 litres. The cellar is provided with temperature control systems, gravity advantage for the transportation of grapes, buried storage-rooms of corks for temperature and humidity control, a laboratory with measuring equipment for wine control, etc… All this is located in an ideal place for vine farming, by the banks of the river Guareña.
